ELEMENTARY PARTICLE AND NUCLEAR PHYSICS
Head of the Department, Academician Ts.Baatar
Since 1957, our physicists have been conducting research in the field of particle and nuclear interactions in collaboration with Joint Institute for Nuclear Research in Dubna. Our scientist D.Tuvdendorj and N.Dalkhjav have participated in several important experiments to investigate the fundamental interactions in microscopic level. In 1961, the first laboratory on high energy physics named Sector of Photo Emulsion was founded, and later renamed as The Department of Elementary Particle and Nuclear Physics.
Currently, the department’s studies focus on multi-particle production processes in Hadron-Hadron, Hadron-Nucleus and Nucleus-Nucleus interactions at high energies. Our research team has 2 academicians, 4 Ph.Ds and 3 M.Sc graduates, and around 350 research papers out of total 400 have been published in international journals. Papers written in the last five years have been cited over 2700 times.
Laboratory of High Energy Physics
- To conduct experimental research in high energy physics in collaboration with the world’s top organizations such as JINR, CERN and DESY.
Our scientists at ATLAS Control Room. 2014.
Laboratory of Simulation of Physical Processes
- Study of elementary particles and nuclear physics using numerical methods and modern computational facilities.
Laboratory of Phenomenology
- To evaluate the experiment of the standard model of fundamental particles and its possible extensions; to build models of relevant phenomena.
